Town Square Energy, – Retail energy supplier releases new residential electric rates-

New Hampshire-Town Square Energy, a competitive electric supplier, releases a new electricity rate offer of 9.87 cents/kWh to current residents living in the Eversource service territory. The announcement of this new rate from Town Square is in parallel with the September 28th, 2015 electric rate forecast from Eversource. Eversource (NYSE: ES), the largest electric and still regulated utility that serves residents in New Hampshire, announced a forecasted energy service charge of 10.39 cents/kWh effective January 1st, 2016.

Those affected by this rate will see a 14% increase in their energy service charge come January 1st, 2016. Penni Conner, Eversource’s Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, cites winter constraints on natural gas supply in New England as the primary culprit of the price increase. The release from Eversource continued that more than half of New England’s electricity is now produced using natural gas.

New Hampshire is a state that allows competitive electric suppliers to operate and consumers to choose an alternative for their electricity supply. Electric customers who choose Town Square are typically looking for value and a long term strategy to stabilize their energy costs.

“It’s about educating people in energy deregulation;” said J. Scott, with Town Square Energy’s Marketing and Customer Relations team. “Many people don’t even know they have an alternative to the utility when rate increases like this happen.” Scott continues, “Our knowledge and experience year-over-year allow us to anticipate these increases and proactively acquire power in the wholesale energy market, which ultimately provides our customers with long-term value, (especially) in the winter months when money is tight and being spent on holiday shopping, parties, and travel.”

Town Square Energy is fully licensed to serve as a competitive electric supplier in 8 states across 27 utility markets. Town Square Energy is dedicated to educating electricity consumers on how electricity is generated, purchased, and consumed in an effort to give their customers full control in how they interact with energy.
